The Intelligent Connected Vehicle Technology Conference focused on trending topics such as intelligent vehicle security industry development, security technology, application innovation, etc. GoGoByte was invited to discuss the direction of high quality development of intelligent vehicles with well-known experts and representatives of cyber security enterprises such as the Fifth Institute of Electronics of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, 360 Group, etc. to share the security technology and latest developments in the automotive industry.
On January 7, Liu Wenhao, co-founder and CTO of GoGoByte, and A Yilun, head of the security product line, were invited to attend the 2023 Intelligent Connected Vehicle Technology Conference, and delivered a speech on the topic of “From Concept Design to Full Life Cycle, Security Threat Analysis and Assessment Practices for Connected Vehicles” in the session of ” Intelligent Vehicle Security Technology Research”.
In the presentation, he shared the Threat Analysis and Risk Assessment (TARA) process and related challenges, elaborated the significance of conducting TARA at the concept design stage from different perspectives such as security companies, OEMs, and related regulations, etc. Liu Wenhao pointed out, “Information security issues are ongoing, and companies have limited resources to invest for security. Therefore we need to carry out risk assessment and planning in the early stage of the development of connected vehicles, that is, the conceptual design stage, to invest the limited security cost into the most needed protection, thus reducing the cost of later maintenance and repair.”
During the presentation, Wenhao Liu mentioned the common challenges that enterprises always encounter when implementing TARA.Then he brought out some target solutions, and demonstrated DenfenseWeaver, a visual threat modeling and risk assessment tool developed by GoGoByte.
DefenseWeaver is characterized by intuitive interface that supports complex vehicle modeling while reducing the difficulty of use. Developed with GoGoByte’s years of experience in risk assessment and practice,it allows users to solve problems effectively including difficult collaboration, subjective assessment reports and high cost of continuous model updates in TARA, and offers best practices of risk assessment.
Finally, Liu Wenhao indicated that although security design at the concept design stage is essential, it is the full lifecycle security for the entire vehicle that is the ultimate goal, which entails cybersecurity practices extending from the concept phase to the entire life cycle. For this reason, GoGoByte has launched ThreatTrace, a full lifecycle security management platform for connected vehicles, which is expected to help OEMs and suppliers complete security collaboration and protection from concept design to full lifecycle.
